We understand that choosing a new front door can be confusing, especially when there is so much choice. That is why we have put together this guide to help you make a more informed decision.

Security

Security is a primary consideration when choosing your new front door. All doors offer by P&P Glass feature full height, multi-point locking meaning that security is guaranteed. You also have the option of a traditional lever handle or a townhouse style lock; all our front doors are available with either option.

In addition to the locking mechanism, all doors come with toughened safety glass as standard, but for additional peace of mind you can upgrade to include laminated glass.

Style

P&P Glass offer a range of door styles, from traditional and timeless, to modern and contemporary. As all our doors are made to order, we can work with the space you already have. For taller openings, we have the option to add a toplight and for wider openings, the option for slidelights to be included. Whether you live in a quaint Surrey cottage or a London townhouse, our expert sales consultants can help you find the perfect door to suit your property.

Material

Whether you are looking for traditional timber or low maintenance PVC, P&P Glass can help find the front door that’s right for you.

  • Timber – unlike traditional timber, our timber doors will not warp or twist. This is due to a multi-layering technique used, which involves layering wood sections with opposing grains.  The use of this technique ensures your engineered timber door will fit perfectly from the day they are installed.
  • PVC – PVC, or sometimes known as uPVC, doors offer the benefit of being extremely low maintenance whilst also being energy efficient. PVC is a tough material, meaning the frames are capable of coping with extreme weather elements.
  • Composite – Composite doors are made up from different materials to help make them strong and secure. The Solidor range, offered by P&P Glass, is made up of a thick timber core, surrounded by an insulating foam and a 3mm thick PVC skin.

Colour

The colour of your new door is important and nowadays there is a lot of choice. Timber doors offer the widest colour palette with PVC being close behind.

Our timber doors offer 48 standard colours as well as 7 stain finishes. However, over 210 RAL colours are available as well as colour matching to Farrow and Ball, Fired Earth and Little Greene paint finishes. Using a microporous paint ensures a flawless finish and keeps the doors looking great through all seasons. With so much choice, we recommend visiting your local showroom to see colour swatches in person.

Our PVC front door range ‘The English Door Company’ from Evolution, offer 9 standard ‘wood effect’ finishes as well as an option for a smooth white finish. In addition to the classic finishes, you can choose from over 200 RAL paint colours; these custom colours still have the wood grain detail to maintain the feel of a wooden door.

When considering a composite door, colour options are typically more limited however, Solidor recently introduced 5 new colours, meaning they now offer a total of 38 colour choices. From modern greys to bold yellows, there is something for everyone.
