How P&P Glass started
40 years ago, a young couple based in Surrey called Peter and Pat decided to start a small double-glazing business. This was the beginning of P&P Glass.
The couple began to lay some excellent foundations, building a reputation for being passionate about our community, reliability and providing excellent customer service – all qualities that still ring true to this day.
A few years later Ulrich Stahlschmidt invested in P&P Glass, who openly had big ambitions for the small Surrey business.
When speaking about the takeover, Ulrich explains that “Peter and Pat had laid some excellent foundations, but I could see P&P had potential to be something much bigger and better.”
At the time of the takeover in the 1980s the double-glazing industry was booming. But unfortunately, the glazing industry had a terrible reputation.
You see, most people had traditional sash windows; the constant rattle of the panes banging against the frames, waves of cold air from the outside, heat loss, and condensation were part and parcel of everyday life. And when anyone came to upgrade their windows or doors, were faced with pushy salesmen – something P&P Glass has always strived to avoid, dedicated to hiring honest, factual and unbiased staff.
P&P Glass were (and continue to) tackle the stigma. From day one, we have stayed true to our original mission; to significantly boost the quality of the area’s housing stock, whilst helping each one of our customers create the home of their dreams.
